Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out what Mollie Donghia Photography is all about! If you haven’t already done so, feel free to browse my website, get to know me, and take a look at my galleries! If you would have asked me a year ago if I thought I would have my own photography business, I honestly would have laughed and thought you were crazy. I’ve owned a “fancy camera” for the past six years, but really didn’t know how to use it and only pulled it out occasionally to snap a few pictures here and there. I had no idea what the terms ISO, exposure compensation, or bokah meant-- terms my husband regularly hears me using now.
After my son, Leo, was born in September, I realized that I loved having pictures to document the sweet interactions and everyday happenings of my young children, but wanted to be able to hold onto these memories with more than just my iPhone camera. So, I was determined to learn how to use my “fancy camera”! With the motivation and encouragement from my best friend, Stacey, and owner of Stacey Lynn Photography, I immersed myself in studying and learning how to use my camera and take good pictures through reading all the photography articles and blogs I could get my hands on, as well as experimenting and taking countless pictures of my children.
Soon after that, I thought “Hey, this is fun, maybe I can make this hobby into a part-time job someday!”. Little did I know in September what God had in store for me in the coming year. Transitioning from being a full-time elementary school teacher to a full-time stay at home mommy, I knew that this next chapter of my life was about to look much differently...but starting a photography business on top of staying at home with my children every day?! I’m constantly in awe of the plans that God has for each of us, how He gives us hidden talents along the way, and how His plans are far better than the plans we construct in our minds. I’ve been so blessed to be able to use this creative gift of photography to capture timeless pictures of not only my own children, but also of friends, family, and others along the way.
So that’s my little story of how and why I started this photography business. If you decide that you want to capture some of life’s sweet moments of your family or children through photography, I would love to be able to take them for you! These are photographs that you and your family will cherish forever and be able to remember just how life was at that point in time, passing them down to your children’s children and treasured for generations to come.
